Recorder Club

We have recently introduced a new lunch time club for students to learn to play the recorder. We will be learning how to correctly hold our new instrument and the correct technique to play each note in time with the rest of our recorder orchestra. In addition to playing in time to the rhythm we will be learning how to read musical notation so that we can recognise each note and identify how to play it. Our students are already proving to be dedicated and eager to learn more by continuing to practice in their own time at home, we are so proud of their enthusiasm and look forward to future performances and inspiring other students to join.

Learning to play note B

The children have been practicing lots to play in time with the music and each other and perfecting how to blow into the recorder so that it doesn't squeak. All their hard work at home too has really paid off and we will keep introducing new notes each week as we continue to learn more about notation.
Welcome back to the Summer term! Make sure you follow us on Twitter or look at the gallery and Whole School Learning sections of the website under the children's tab to find out school life at St. John's.
