At St John’s Primary School, we promote a love of learning and encourage creativity and imagination, developing independent learners with a lifetime love of learning. Ongoing formative assessment, focusing on what and how children are learning, enhances future learning and enables teachers to plan next steps for individual children.
The purpose of assessment is for the teacher to know what skills have been acquired and which concepts have been understood to inform future planning and move all children on in their learning in order for them to be ready for the next phase. The outcomes of the assessments will help children become involved in raising their own expectations and will have considerable impact on raising achievement.
