Safeguarding

St. John’s School is committed to ensuring all children are safe and free from harm both in school and at home. All children have a right to learn, grow and develop in a safe environment where they can trust adults to keep them safe and support them in the choices they make.

Staff work hard to develop relationships with St. John’s children and their families and are vigilant when they notice any changes that trigger concern for any children in our care or their families.  Everyone in our school community has the right to be kept safe from harm, discrimination, abuse or harassment and have their voice heard.

Our policies apply to all staff, governors and volunteers working in the school.

Operation Encompass

As part of  St. John’s commitment to keeping children safe we have signed up to implement the principles and aims of the Encompass Model.

In signing up to Encompass the Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team:

• Endorse the Encompass Model and support the Key Adults in our school to fulfil the requirements of the Rochdale Encompass Protocol

• Promote and implement Rochdale Encompass processes and use these in accordance with internal safeguarding children processes

• Recognise the sensitive nature of the information provided and ensure that this is retained in accordance with the principles of data protection
