Welcome to St. John's CE Thornham, our small school with a big heart! We are all very proud of our school and I am extremely privileged to be the Headteacher here. Our school is a very special place. We have extensive school grounds and have recently had a huge renovation which has provided new classrooms, toilets and additional learning spaces complimenting the more traditional part of our school which was built in 1841.
Our aim at St. John's is to ensure our children reach their full potential. Our work here allows for all children to develop academically, socially and independently whilst supporting them to build confidence, resilience, independence and the ability to make informed decisions and choices as they grow. We want our children to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the next phases of their learning making learning a lifelong habit.
It is so important that we support one another and our relationships with the children and you as parents is vital in enabling our children to achieve their full potential.
Our desire here is to ensure that as your children progress through the school they are being positively prepared for life as citizens of the future. Our school motto reflects this commitment- 'Love 2 learn, love 1 another.' Our children are encouraged to live out our ten school values and are rewarded for this individually and as a team, developing their own self-esteem and team building skills too.
I am extremely proud to lead a team that is committed to children's well-being, achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our care. Staff, supported by governors, work hard to deliver a rich and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education; and to help them acquire the skills and enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. This continues to be recognised beyond the school through the many external awards and accolades that celebrate our successes.
Being the headteacher of a strong and supportive community with our positive and friendly atmosphere reflecting our School Values is so rewarding. People often comment on the warm atmosphere they encounter as they come through our doors, coupled with the exciting and creative learning environment for all, found wherever they look.
If you require any further information about our school or would like to visit us, please do contact me to arrange a suitable time. We very much look forward to a happy and successful partnership with you.
