RHE

Relationships and Health Education (RHE) is compulsory in all primary schools in England from September 2020. The government published guidance for Relationship and Sex Education which prioritises the teaching of Relationships and Health within primary schools. We are pleased that the guidance doesn’t instruct schools in telling children what to think. Its emphasis is not on agreement but rather on awareness and acceptance, no matter what the belief, gender or orientation people may have. Love is a common ground that we can all build up on and this policy is written in line with Manchester Diocese document ‘Valuing All God’s Children’. In EYFS we use the Think Equal Programme and in Year 1 to Year 6 we use the SCARF materials (Coran Life Education) to support the teaching of Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education (PSHCE) and Relationship and Health Education (RHE) whilst promoting our Christian and School Values and the development of a growth mind-set too. This policy informs parents/carers what is taught through the PSHCE and RHE curriculums here at St. John’s. The policy was shared with parents, pupils, staff and governors as part of a consultation in March 2023 to ensure that the views and needs of all stakeholders were taken into consideration.

Keep up to date with our new build as it develops. Have a look at the photographs and drone footage in the All About Us tab! It is wonderful to see the school from the old to the newest parts as well as the current build!
