This half term we will be looking at birds and conducting the RSPB Big Schools Bird Count!
WC 9th February 2026
This week the children enjoyed making pretend fires from found natural materials, den building and Creators launched rockets they made in computing using effervescent tablets and water.

WC 2nd February 2026
This week the children carried out the RSPB Big Schools Bird Count. They saw lots of different birds including a Kestrel sat on the telephone wires waiting for it's prey.

WC 19th January 2026
This week Creators and Discoverers played a hide and seek game to practice keeping quiet and staying hidden when we come to carry out the big schools birdwatch. Later in the week Explorers made bird feeders using hooped cereal and KS2 children continued watching for birds, creating nests and developing a bird hide. Some of the children wanted to take photos of what was going on and got very creative with the photography.

WC 12th January 2026
This week the children enjoyed birdwatching and identifying the different birds they saw on the bird spotters. Some of them had fun making their own nests thinking about what the birds might make them out of and what the structure is like.

W.C 5th January 2026
This week was a little mixed with the weather. There was snow earlier in the week which Explorers, Creators and Discoverers had fun playing in, however, later in the week it was a little slushy and so Inventors, Pioneers and Adventurers got stuck in attempting to make a bird hide for when we carry out our survey for the Big Schools Bird Count.
