E- safety Policy and Parental advice

St. John’s CE, Thornham Primary School understands that social media is a growing part of life outside of school. We have a responsibility to safeguard our pupils against potential dangers when accessing the internet at school, and to educate our pupils about how to protect themselves online when outside of school.

The St. John’s Promise:

  • That all pupils will receive high quality and innovative teaching that supports and challenges them to achieve their best.
  • That parents and carers feel part of the school, are supported and know how to support their children.
  • That pupils leave our school equipped to be effective in which ever path they take in their work, education and relationships.

We are committed to:

• Encouraging the responsible use of social media in support of the St. John’s mission, ethos and values.

• Protecting our pupils from the dangers of social media.

• Preventing and avoiding damage to the reputation of the school through irresponsible use of social media.

• Protecting our staff from cyber bullying and potentially career damaging behaviour.

• Arranging e-safety meetings for parents.

When using the internet at school our filtering system provided by FORTINET allows our children to search the world wide web safely. We encourage our children to inform us if they see any content that is not appropriate and we report this straight to our computing team Remedian who update the filtering system immediately.
