Mrs Rebecca Hunter

"I am proud to be the head teacher at St. John's and started here in September 2017. I came to St. John's after being a deputy head teacher at two outstanding schools, one of which was a National Teaching School where I led and developed a range of programmes to support teaching and learning across the primary phase.

I have experienced teaching in all areas of Primary Education spending most of my early career in EYFS and KS1 and having the opportunity to work across four different authorities. I am a dedicated, resourceful and goal-driven professional with a commitment and leadership experience to lead the social and academic growth and development of every child here at St. John's. I am highly motivated and enthusiastic and creatively seek ways to develop our learning environment and educational practice to ensure our children are provided with the experiences and opportunities to develop into successful learners.

Working with a committed governing board who drive our school ethos and values whilst striving to support our school community is very rewarding. As school leaders, together we focus on the continuous development of our school with high expectations and aspirations for every child and member of staff ensuring that we support children academically and socially and emotionally.

I enjoy working with our parents/carers, the church and local communities of Slattocks and Castleton.  I also thrive on the challenges and opportunities that working in such an exciting community school bring and feel honoured to work with and help to lead such a committed team of staff and governors.

I love my job and get enormous pleasure from seeing so many children succeeding in so many different ways. I am committed to ensuring that all children receive the very best education possible and thrive in our little school with a big heart."

This week the children have been involved in transition. Year 6 have vivited their new schools, our children have spent the afternoon with their new teachers in their new classes and our new reception children came for their 'Stay and Play' session taking home with them their very own SJT bear to spend the summer with them. What an exciting week!
